How to save an entire website to browse it offline

Surely more than once you thought about a way to download a full website to navigate through it without being connected to the Internet. Surely something very useful when you expect to be offline for some time, like when you go on a trip somewhere without signal, or when you go through a path with an unreliable data coverage or unstable WiFi connection and you would like to browse a particular site as if you were online.

It is true that modern browsers can download the different pages of the same site in HTML format for viewing offline, but it limits the power to navigate to other options, menus or content, since the links are lost and keep on pointing to the online version. This way you only download the page on which you clicked Save as Webpage.

Guide: AMD Radeon RX 460 vs RX 470 vs RX 480 Specs and Benchmark Comparison, which model should I choose?

  • by

The new AMD RX and NVIDIA GTX 1000 are now available for purchase, a new generation of graphics cards with which their manufacturers have followed a very clear and distinct strategy.

On one hand, AMD has presented three new products: the RX 480, the RX 470 and the RX 460, while NVIDIA has presented a total of five: the 3GB GTX 1060, the 6GB GTX 1060, the GTX 1080 and the GTX TITAN X Pascal.

As we can see, the folks at Sunnyvale have made a more controlled launch, betting on upper middle and lower middle range products, but are working on Vega, their new high end graphics card, planned to be launched in 2017.

This strategy is easily understood for one simple reason, which is that they are trying to capitalize on the investment they made on the Fury and Fury X, equipped with HBM memory cards and that are capable of great performance.

How to Get Rid of (Delete) Android Viruses?

Android is a very flexible operating system. Compared to competing platforms like iOS and Windows Phone, it gives more freedom of action to the user, but this evident advantage means taking some more risks about informatics safety.

The opportunity to install apps from external sources, “outside” the Google Play Store, and the pretty wide spread of the operating system (it’s the most used platform in the world, as regards smartphones) has meant that Android attracted some unpleasant attentions from cybercriminals, who create malwares aimed to spy the users’ activities, collecting their data and sometimes activating some very expensive premium services by SMS.

To protect yourself from this kind of risk, you need to use your own smartphone/tablet wisely, avoiding downloads of apps from external sources (but it must be said that sometimes, viruses have been found even on the Play Store, disguised as innocuous games or apps) and, if possible, installing a good antivirus: there are many of them, even for free, without slowing the system down at all, and getting to guarantee a great level of protection. If you want, I can suggest you some of the best ones around and teach you how to delete Android viruses by using them. It won’t take long, I promise.

How to prevent malwares installation on Android

Before we take a look to the best antimalware apps currently available on Android, let’s clear up an important point: to reasonably rest easy, you should just download apps from safe sources only, so from the Play Store only, from developers with proven reliability, and don’t root the Android system.  (Read More: How to Root Android Phone)

The New Pascal-based Nvidia Titan X and Quadro GPUs

Nvidia, a leading graphics card manufacturer, has recently announced new GPUs based on its next-generation Pascal architecture. The Nvidia Titan X is a step above the 1080 GTX, while the new Nvidia Quadro is suited to the professional sector.

According to Nvidia, the Titan X is able to offer performance up to 50% higher than the company’s previous flagship, the 1080 GTX, which was already the most powerful GPU at the time. While the latter only boasted with 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM memory with a 256-bit bus, the Nvidia Titan X has 12 GB and a 384-bit bus, with a consumption of 250 W – just 70W superior to GTX 1080 and just as much as the old GTX Titan X.

How to Reset Android Phone to Factory Settings (Fully Erase Everything)

Before selling any computer, smartphone or tablet, it is essential to protect your privacy by formatting the device. Formatting – as you surely know already – is a process by which you delete all files on a drive keeping it serviceable.

Be careful though: simple formatting is not enough. To make sure that your old data has been truly deleted and cannot be subsequently recovered with some specialist software (like the ones I mentioned in the tutorial on how to recover photos on Android), you need to overwrite all the empty space on the drive using a process called “wiping”.

I know that it may seem like a tricky thing to do – a prerogative of experienced users – but it really is not so. In order to prove it, I will now explain how to format Android and how to “wipe” a smartphone or a tablet using some free apps. I bet you will be surprised by how simple it is!

Preliminary operations

Backup

Before formatting your device, save a backup copy of all its files and apps. There are a lot of apps suitable for the purpose, and I will point some out to you right away:

  • Titanium Backup (Need Root)- the best app for backups on Android devices. It saves apps and data on external or internal storage. I have explained how to use it in quite some detail in my guide about how to backup Android.
  • EasyBackup – another backup app, less powerful than Titanium but works without root access. You can find info and instructions on how to use it in the post about Android backup I have just linked.
  • SMS Backup & Restore – Excellent free app that lets you back up all text messages saved on your phone.

Speaking about text messages, I must point out my post on how to re-install WhatsApp where I have shown you the proper steps to save WhatsApp chats and restore them if necessary
