Two years ago, the “Steam machine” craze motivated several manufacturers to conceive an innovative new device: the lapboard. This accessory is intended to allow keyboard and mouse aficionados to game in their living room while maintaining maximum comfort. The Corsair Lapdog, Razer Turret, and Roccat Sova were among the first of this type of product to become available.
PC gaming now represents a large percentage of the gaming industry’s market share and has inspired many companies to manufacture accessories and peripheral devices for this segment of the market. The plethora of products being offered however are not all of equal quality. Low-price gaming mouse have a “gamer” look to them, but do not offer the build-quality, pointer precision and customization many gamers are looking for.
After all, the mouse is the main control device for PC gamers. If Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo invest so much time and money in developing their game system controllers, it is because the controller is the essential element in determining the quality of the user’s experience. As far as PCs are concerned, there are some manufacturers which dedicate the same amount of time, energy and ingenuity to developing the ideal gaming mouse, one which will allow a gamer to break records.

For a while now, Biostar has been releasing a series of peripherals that, while we cannot really say are orientated towards the more seasoned gamers, there’s no denying that they are quite interesting, especially for the price at which they usually sell, which makes them a really interesting alternative for those users who are entering into the shifting sands of the gaming world and don’t have too much money to invest in their peripherals. Or for users who are sporadic gamers and are not willing to spend the small fortune that higher end devices usually cost, however much they promise that with them you will become the king of frags at midnight.
With its new Leadr, Roccat is launching its attack on the wireless sector. To aid it in that cause, it has been armed with the brand new Owl-Eye sensor that sports a whopping 12.000 DPI resolution as well as a lift-off sensor. The Hamburg based company is entering the 2,4 GHz game pretty late and thus has to compete with products like the Razer Mamba and the Logitech G900. But they have some aces up their sleeve in the form of Shark-Fins and X-Celerator-throttles. The Roccat Leadr in its first hands-on review. By Benjamin Kratsch.
Design wise, the Roccat Leadr borrows from the Tyon and brings with it all of the Tyons strengths: Good ergonomics, decent size, and a whole load of features. It offers an impressive 14 buttons, among which is the iconic shark fin, the “Hamburger, the X-Celerator thumb switch, and the thumb button named “Easyshift-Plus”. Roccat are staying true to their “more is more” philosophy with this one and keep including lots of buttons and controls on their mice whereas Logitech, for example, stripped down their G900 to only six buttons.
We were not able to have too many sessions with the Leadr but we found that Battlefield 4 fans will almost certainly be excited about the return of the X-Celerator as an alternative method for flying planes and helicopters. This feature is also available for controlling gun on tanks in Battlefield 1 while driving. It can also be used for switching between ducking and crawling without having to play finger-twister on your keyboard. If you want to make reloading feel more tactile and want to be less reliant on your keyboard you can also assign that task to the X-Celerator switch. You have to be careful though because if you simply let the switch snap back to the middle position it is likely the also trigger whichever command you assigned to the other direction.
Gaming Mice are as much important for a gamer and a PC enthusiast as the GPU or the processor. It is also the subject people care about the least. Lags when playing Counter Strike is measurable.
When you are playing a demanding game or running a benchmark you can clearly see the FPS or the score to come to a conclusion about your laptop of your PC. For gaming alone, the results can be usually very conclusive.
The thing we tend to miss out on is the actual gaming experience. Do you miss your enemy, even when you thought he was directly at your crosshairs? Today we will speak about the MX780RGB mouse, a gaming mouse with 8200 DPIs, it is configurable and meets perfectly all expectations.
Value for money
Despite its simple packaging, the box design attracts your attention. It also allows you to see the content via its front cover, ie, the mouse itself, two weights of 4.5 grams each, two broad sides (For left or right handed) and a height control key for the mouse itself. High performance periferics specialist Cherry has announced the launch of a new mouse to join their wide catalog, the Cherry MC 4000. This mouse is aimed at Professional Gamers and users that require maximum precision, which is why it uses the manufacturer’s best optical sensor.
The optical sensor Cherry installed in the MC 4000 has it’s pros and cons. The biggest pro is absolute precision, at any speed and on any kind of surface that is not reflectant (like all optical mouses). The con is that it’s only capable of running at two resolutions: 1000 and 2000 DPI. This huge limitation exists to make sure the sensor’s precision is absolute. Also, it has two different lights, red light at 2000 DPI and blue at 1000 DPI. It has a button next to the scroll wheel that changes the resolution easily.
One interesting feature is that the manufacturer installed teflon feets that cover the whole perimeter of the mouse’s base, in such a way that it’s always supported on sliding material so it slides perfectly at all times. I can’t remember any mouse of any manufacturer with this base disposition.
When you have been dedicated to a game for a while, you get the hang of it and you knows how to respond to each situation almost instantaneously, and to show that knowledge, skill and hours of play, you need your tools respond as due.
There is no need to have pro-grade peripherals, but a minimum of quality with which to fight your enemies to death almost without them knowing what hit them, and when you play at a certain level online, that requires pinpoint accuracy and speed. You will find all these requirements met in the Razer Diamondback, a great fellow on the playing field.

The Razer Diamondback mouse is 12.5 cm long, 5 cm wide and 1.2 cm high, big enough for a hand to cover it just right, though I did wanted a little more height to finish embracing the mouse completely with my hand. It does not have the ability to vary its weight so it is always kept at 90g, which is just enough for it not look like a toy mouse. Finally, it has a cable of 2.1meters in length, something I appreciated since the PC I have it’s located a bit far away from the mouse pad.
Logitech has launched a new range of mice in which the brand goes back to its origins of improved optical sensors, and thus we find the Daedalus Prime, G302, as an input model. This model, focused on MOBA games, has 6 programmable buttons, internal memory to save the profiles there and a completely renovated software control. A simple but very well done model with excellent results for its game field.
