The ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 sets a new overclock record

Each time a new CPU, RAM or graphics card comes onto the market, overclockers get down to work and to find ways to reach their limits to beat new records. The German overclocker Dancop has succeeded in setting an ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080 graphics card to 2.645 MHz in boost mode, making it the fastest GTX 1080 in the world.

For this, he has had to use liquid nitrogen and a motherboard ASUS ROG Rampage V Edition 10 with an 10 core i7-6950X , with which they have beat the GPUPI 1B 1x test record of 13 seconds with an amazing 492 milliseconds when using the ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080.

The New Pascal-based Nvidia Titan X and Quadro GPUs

Nvidia, a leading graphics card manufacturer, has recently announced new GPUs based on its next-generation Pascal architecture. The Nvidia Titan X is a step above the 1080 GTX, while the new Nvidia Quadro is suited to the professional sector.

The Nvidia Titan X – New flagship

The new Nvidia Titan X promises benefits that are 50% greater than the 1080 GTX.

According to Nvidia, the Titan X is able to offer performance up to 50% higher than the company’s previous flagship, the 1080 GTX, which was already the most powerful GPU at the time. While the latter only boasted with 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM memory with a 256-bit bus, the Nvidia Titan X has 12 GB and a 384-bit bus, with a consumption of 250 W – just 70W superior to GTX 1080 and just as much as the old GTX Titan X.

The first personalized Nvidia GTX 1070 are already here.

Last Friday, June 10 the first Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 graphic cards in their Founders Edition version went out to the market and today, only three days later, a lot of manufacturers have started to present their personalized models within which we find from models that only substitute the dissipator of the Nvidia to models with really high overlocks.

In spite that for the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 there’s barely any models of graphic cards that apply personalized cooling solutions (not to mention, with a different printed circuit to Nvidia reference), manufacturers seem to have become more aware this time with the new GTX 1070 and they are already presenting the first personalized models of this graphic card that will very likely be open to purchase a the end of the present June. So let’s see some of the offers that we got to know.

COLORFUL

This manufacturer presents two versions of the Geforce GTX 1070, the Colorful iGameGTX1070 X-TOP-8G and the Colorful iGameGTX1070 U-TOP-8G, besides the already known Founders Edition. Truth is that they haven’t given any more details regarding any of them.

What are the NVIDIA “Founders Edition” graphics?

Yesterday, we were discussing the price and the release dates of the upcoming Pascal graphic cards from NVIDIA (the GTX 1070 and the GTX 1080), including what the manufacturer has called “Founders Edition”. It seems that it is still not very clear what is the difference between these graphics and the other ones, so in this article we will clarify it to beyond any doubt.

In the event in which NVIDIA introduced its new graphics to the press, they were not too clear about the issue of nomenclature, among other things. In fact, the names tend to confuse some people. So, what is so interesting about this NVIDIA Founder Edition of its new Pascal graphics?

NVIDIA announces the GTX 1080, specifications and price

This morning has been very agitated, NVIDIA has introduced its two big bombs for the graphics market and since it couldn’t be any other way one of them is the GTX 1080 a high-end graphics card that presents itself as a very powerful solution.

We start with what we see externally. New design and new casing covering the card and its heat dissipation system, in line with what we told you in earlier rumors. Jumping to the specifications we have confirmed enough information but some details still remain in the air such as rasterization unit and texture counting, but thanks to the data provided by the green giant we can clearly make out that the GTX 1080 yields more than an SLI GTX 980 and the GTX TITAN X, that’s something.

Nvidia modified the GTX 980 for their inclusion in 17-inch Gaming laptops

In recent years, the power difference between desktops and laptops graphics cards has been cut. In fact, in the presentation of the GTX 980M, Nvidia indicated the fact that it had a 80% power of the GTX 980 for desktop computers, while the GTX 970M was at 60% power the GTX 970.

While for some gamers that look for a new laptop this is unacceptable, they are still the lucky ones. From now on, you can find laptops that have the GTX 980 chip in portable size, while maintaining their consumption of 165 W, with the cooling problems that may entail.

GTX 980

So it depends on manufacturers to create cooling systems that are suitable for these notebooks, and the MSI GT72 with the GTX 980 option is a huge laptop with 17-inch screen and more than 5 cm in thickness. But yes, Nvidia promises that these chips will operate at the speeds of the desktop versions, and also allow the same overclock, in the range of 200 Hz.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M vs 970M vs 965M vs 960M vs 860M Specs and Benchmark Comparison

  • by

Powered by the next-gen Nividia Maxwell archictecture, compared to their predecessors, GeForce’s GTX 980M and GTX 970M take graphic cards to a new level with their unmatched power efficiency, high performance and advanced features. But the GTX 960M, based on the same architecture with its predecessors, fails to impress in the technical specs department.

[toc]There are two versions of the GTX 860M. One is based on the Maxwell architecture while the other packs a Kepler version. The latter featured a MXM interface along with 80% more shader units. But its low performance made it less usable. Comparing the GTX 960M and the Maxwell version of the GTX 860M, you will spot numerous similarities in specs. Both GPU models use a GM107 chip; you can place 640 Unified Shaders. They also have 2048 – 4069 MB GDDR5 video memory available for use connected via a 128-bit memory interface.
