Shuttle DS57U, bare bone with Broadwell and without fans

The Shuttle DS57U is a mini-PC sold in a bare bone format, with the latest Intel Broadway processor and a cooling design without those annoying fans.

There’s no doubt that mini-PCs are trend now as a desktop pc due to its versatility and reduced size, to place it anywhere on the desktop, in the living room or to use it as a light client in companies.

The latest model from one of the reference manufacturers in the mini PC sector uses an Intel Celeron 3205U processor, a 1.5 GHz dual core, Intel integrated graphics and a 15v max TDP. It is the basic model since Shuttle offers 3 other configurations up to the Core i7-5500U one.

In every case, the Shuttle 1.3L comes with a metal chassis, Display port and double HDMI outputs, COM ports, LAN Gigabit, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 and 2.0, audio connectors and memory cards reader.

It is being offered in a bare bone format so that the user provides the RAM and storage with 2 SODIMM slots with up to 16 GB DDR3, a 2.5 inch hard drive or a mSATA support connector for solid storage.

The user will also have to install the operative system, supporting Windows 7, 8 and Linux. Its VESA support allows to place it vertically on the desktop, wall or behind the monitor. The recommended price for the Shuttle DS57U is 234 Euros and should be available soon in the European market.
